Awarenessinfomedia has gathered that Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa of Ondo State has reiterated that the security of the state is non-negotiable, emphasizing that no society can thrive in an atmosphere of fear and no government can claim legitimacy without protecting lives and property.
The governor made this statement on Wednesday during the passing-out parade and induction of 500 new operatives (Batch 05, BR05) of the Ondo State Security Network Agency, codenamed Amotekun Corps, at the Arcade Complex in Akure.
Describing the ceremony as symbolic and historic, Aiyedatiwa noted that it marked a significant step in consolidating the state's security architecture amidst persistent threats in forests, farms, highways, and communities.
The newly inducted operatives had undergone rigorous training focused on physical endurance, tactical operations, intelligence gathering, inter-agency synergy, rules of engagement, human rights, rule of law, and the Omoluabi ethos of integrity and restraint.
Aiyedatiwa emphasized that Amotekun remains a community-rooted, intelligence-driven, and constitutionally aligned outfit designed to complement federal agencies such as the police, army, Department of State Services (DSS), and Nigeria Security andv Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), rather than rival them.
"The BR05 represents not merely an addition in numbers but an upgrade in capacity, a reinforcement of doctrine, and a strengthening of our collective resolve to secure every inch of Ondo State," the governor said.
He warned that the corps' strength lies in professional restraint, community trust, and adherence to ethical values, not brute force. Aiyedatiwa charged the new operatives to exercise sound judgement, maintain discipline, and act strictly under the law, as any abuse of power would undermine public confidence.
The induction of the new operatives is expected to boost the state's security efforts and enhance the overall safety of Ondo State residents.
