Gwarzo's resignation was confirmed by his Chief Press Secretary, Ibrahim Shuaibu, on Friday evening, March 27, 2026. The move is seen as a strategic decision to avoid further political turmoil and potential removal from office.
The Kano State House of Assembly had commenced impeachment proceedings against Gwarzo earlier this month, citing allegations of diverting funds allocated to local government administrations for purposes other than those intended.
