EFCC Hands Over N3.93bn Recovered Funds From Individuals In Oil Firm To NNPC




Awarenessinfo media has gathered the news that in a significant development in the fight against corruption, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has handed over a whopping N3.93 billion to the Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) Limited


The handover ceremony, held at the EFCC headquarters in Abuja, marks a major breakthrough in the country's efforts to recover stolen oil revenues.


The recovered funds, amounting to N3,936,145,822, were handed over by Mohammed Hammajoda, Secretary to the EFCC, on behalf of Ola Olukoyede, the commission's Executive Chairman. 


The money was recovered from "certain individuals" involved in fraudulent activities within the NNPC, thanks to thorough investigations and professional exposure by the EFCC.


"This milestone demonstrates our unwavering commitment to combating economic and financial crimes," Hammajoda said. "We will continue to serve Nigeria with courage and integrity, and we will not hesitate to bring perpetrators to justice."


Receiving the funds, Mumuni Dagazau, Executive Vice-President of NNPC's Downstream operations, expressed gratitude to the EFCC for its support. 


"This recovery shows the unity and cooperation between our agencies," Dagazau said. "We appreciate the EFCC's efforts in helping us correct the system and recover stolen funds."


Dagazau also highlighted NNPC's ongoing struggles and challenges, emphasizing add company's commitment to transparency and accountability. "We're proud of this achievement, and we look forward to continued collaboration with the EFCC to ensure Nigeria gets its due."
