Awarenessinfomedia has gathered that the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), Ogun State Axis, has commended Governor Dapo Abiodun for paying over ₦450 million to Team Ogun athletes and officials for their performance at the National Sports Festival.
In a statement Co-signed by Comrade Abiola Francis Solution Chairman and Comrade Ibikunle Idris Iyanda Sport Director Ogun JCC Axis, the student leaders praised the governor for fulfilling his promises, including settling training allowances, participation allowances, and bonuses.
The reward package included ₦2.5 million for each of the 93 gold medalists, ₦1.5 million for 61 silver medalists, and ₦1 million for 81 bronze medalists. The governor also supported coaches and officials.
The statement urged the governor to continue investing in sports infrastructure, athlete welfare, and youth empowerment programs.
It also appreciates the Honourable Commissioner for Sport Development and the Director General of Sports in Nigeria for their roles in the success of the sport tournament.
NANS also called on the state government to prioritize sports in educational institutions, organizing inter-school competitions to identify and develop young talent.
The association expressed confidence that Ogun State would continue to excel in sports under Governor Dapo Abiodun's leadership, citing his visionary governance and commitment to sports development.
The statement concluded by thanking the governor for fulfilling his promises and sustaining sports growth in Ogun State.
